Chamada de Artigos: Origens da Filosofia Contemporânea

A filosofia contemporânea tem sido caracterizada pela cisma entre filósofos “analíticos” e “continentais”. Contudo, as últimas décadas têm mostrado sinais de aproximação entre essas tradições. Tal situação tem motivado um crescente interesse pelo estudo da filosofia da segunda metade do século XIX e do início do XX. O resultado de tais esforços têm sido a delimitação de uma esfera de pesquisa que, sob o título “Origens da Filosofia Contemporânea”, começa a reestudar um importante capítulo da história da filosofia recente, deixado no ostracismo em consequência da ruptura mencionada acima. Identificar o nascimento da filosofia contemporânea implica rever criticamente ideias largamente difundidas no início da filosofia analítica e da fenomenologia. Em ambos os casos, a historiografia rigorosa tem sido substituída por “mitos de criação” que, embora relevantes para determinar a identidade que cada uma das correntes atribui a si mesma, ignoram uma teia de complexas relações sistemáticas e históricas. Hoje, já não se pode mais ignorar a variedade de temas e problemas envolvidos na gestação das duas correntes e ainda assim apresentar, numa narrativa linear, uma história complexa, pluridimensional e ainda não suficientemente conhecida. Embora desde a década de 1950 vários autores tenham buscado resgatar as afinidades existentes entre as motivações de Frege e as de Husserl, o trabalho de compreender como essas motivações levaram à construção daquilo que é a filosofia contemporânea ainda é uma necessidade. A revisão de tais abordagens simplistas exige uma releitura de toda a filosofia do século XIX, propondo-se uma história da filosofia propriamente historiográfica e propriamente filosófica, em contraposição a uma visão romanticamente idealizada.

Dado o domínio extenso e de natureza interdisciplinar do volume especial, a revista Perspectiva Filosófica encoraja a submissão de artigos relacionados as seguintes linhas de pesquisa:

Call for Papers: “Origins of Contemporary Philosophy”

Contemporary philosophy has been characterized by the schism between “analytical” and “continental” philosophers. However, the last decades have shown signs of approximation between these traditions. This situation has motivated a growing interest in the study of the philosophy of the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The result of such efforts has been the delimitation of a sphere of research that, under the title “Origins of Contemporary Philosophy”, begins to re-study an important chapter in the history of recent philosophy, left in oblivion as a result of the rupture mentioned above. Identifying the birth of contemporary philosophy implies critically reviewing ideas widely spread in the beginning of analytic philosophy and phenomenology. In both cases, rigorous historiography has been replaced by “creation myths” that, while relevant to determining the identity that each current attributes to itself, ignore a web of complex systematic and historical relationships. Today, it is no longer possible to ignore the variety of themes and problems involved in the gestation of the two currents and still present, in a linear narrative, a complex, pluridimensional and not yet sufficiently known story. Although since the 1950s several authors have sought to recover the affinities between Frege's and Husserl's motivations, the work of understanding how these motivations led to the construction of what is contemporary philosophy remains a necessity. The review of such simplistic approaches requires a re-reading of the entire philosophy of the 19th century, proposing a properly historiographical and properly philosophical history of philosophy, as opposed to a romantically idealized vision.

In light of this, the present special issue of the journal Perspectiva Filosófica encourages the submission of articles related to the following lines of research
